KU Difficult Dialogs Video Series online

I've watched the Miller and Jones videos so far, but I've been having problems with the Dawkins video. It gets so far then just stops. And it's not just a pause. I have to restart and drag the marker to a spot past where it previously stopped, missing only a few seconds if I'm lucky. (More if not.) In two sessions over the past week I've gotten through about half.
Is anyone else having this problem? I'm on standard (not FIOS) DSL broadband.

hmm...i just watched the behe video (from Dec. 7th). he decided to start out by rambling on about how Judge Jones copied the findings of fact!
basically, he made it seem like the Judge stole the whole opinion.."cut and paste, drag and drop." he was also lovely enough to say "but, it turns out there's serious reason to question whether the judge even understood the academic issues that were presented..."

I just watched Behe's talk and it was sad to hear a trained scientist who is in denial about reality and the science that is going on around him. I particularly enjoyed the concluding statement to his brief explanation of IC and the flagellum and his proposal that a non-ID explanation is "..an enormously daunting task which nobody has tried to explain in relevant detail."

Interestingly though, in the Q&A session he gets asked about why he doesn't acknowledge counter claims against IC systems. His response is to now say that suggestions about developmental pathways for arranging parts into a complex system are NOT counter arguments against IC as IC is all about how the system FUNCTIONS (and I thought it was about how it came to be?). That makes nearly everything IC - if I take the battery out of my laptop it stops working so my laptop must be an example of IC! QED! (Note to his mechanic; if he ever calls you to say his car won't start and you discover the battery is flat try explaining it in terms of IC and suggest he needs to buy a new car?)

I also listened to the Behe talk. While most of it could be summarized "I'm sooo misunderstood," the most telling point for me was his misunderstanding of testing in science. He said that the common definition of scientific utility is whether an observation leads to new hypotheses but then said, that one could observe a new planet going around the Sun but that this observation would not likely lead to useful new hypotheses. I suspect that planetary scientists would disagree - the argument from personal ignorance extends far in Dr. Behe's world.

One doesn't need to be a philosopher of science to do science, but before he spouts off about other people's expertise, he ought to do the homework. It's all rather like reading a sex manual written by the Pope.

One disappointment was not seeing his slides on the video.

I've learned a lot on this site.

But I'm betting all that learning pales compared with the things the last several commenters on this thread could share.

I'm just a layman, but I think I understand that certain people misconstrue the 2nd law when they don't realize that without it there's nothing to fuel life. But, what about the whole? I mean, since the 2nd law also fuels stars, galaxies, etc., and if the universe as a whole is a closed system, then, isn't the universe as a whole gradually losing it's capacity to fuel (anything)?

If so, then wouldn't that mean that the universe could not have existed forever, because if it had it would have 'run out of gas' by now? And, would such considerations also apply to a 'multiverse' or, would it be said that such a thing would have laws that don't require fuel to get work done, or, that fuel is somehow (like a perpetual motion machine?) eternally replenished, or...?

If the answer to this is something like the mulitiverse got fuel from prior multiverses, etc., then does the fallacy of infinite regress come into play here? I mean, is it proper to ask where everything came from in the first place?
