After BenBen Stein, star of the new movie "Expelled," is going to be on the O'Reilly Factor tonight, talking about his involvement in "Expelled" and the suppression that's taking place in our nation's academic and scientific communities. Be sure to tune in and learn more about the movie, which we first noted here.
Ben Stein expelled by ID?
On October 22, Anika Smith, posted the following announcement on EvolutionNews.org
KlStein's disastrous appearance in which both he and the host emphasized the religious foundation of Intelligent Design, the posting seems to have been expelled from the website. But evidence remains
Teach the controversy seems to have its limits. But design inferences are fun.

You see how things go wrong when you let other people climb on your pseudoscience bandwagon? The Discovery Institute is now discovering that they are unlucky in their friends, who just can't keep a lid on the big secret that the Intelligent Designer is God. The DI's discomfiture is most entertaining.

Sigh.
My web title name got a little twist. And by "another copy" I meant "another post" of course.

"After Ben Klein’s disastrous appearance..."
Who is Ben Klein?
PvM · 24 October 2007
Stein, Klein, what's the difference :-)
Glen Davidson · 24 October 2007
Stein=stone, Klein=small.
If it were a small stone, either might apply, but we don't know that it is.
In more important matters, Disco must be torn over this movie. On the one hand, clearly the Expelled bunch has gotten the message, that ID is religious in nature and the complaints against "materialistic science" are a way to whine that science doesn't respect and pay for religion as they think that it should. On the other hand, they've expended so much energy claiming that ID is a non-religious science that they must be appalled at how glibly Ruloff and Stein equate ID with religion and creationism.
Gonzalez took pains not to complain about religious discrimination when he was passed over for tenure (I still don't know if he should have been, but that's not the issue today), because supposedly ID isn't religion. Do Ruloff, Stein, and O'Reilly care about that fiction? No, Gonzalez is one of their prime examples of religion being "expelled" from science.
Well, Stein and O'Reilly, how is it even possible that Gonzalez was the victim of anti-religious persecution, when ID isn't even religious in nature? See, every lie that Disco has propagated has been exposed by your stupid movie. It's almost as if the NCSE had decided to make a parody movie, wherein Disco's and Gonzalez's lies are exposed by pious religious creationists for being exactly what Judge Jones called it (in essense), a transparent scientific fraud.

I'm with Larsson on this, Pim, I don't really get it either. Your link is to a specific evolutionnews.org webpage, which means they have it archived in some manner. Yet it doesn't show up where it used to on evolutionnews.org.
I don't know how you got to it, is, I guess, what I'm saying. Is it on some archival site, or did you have to get to it via some older link?
It's kind of weird how they manage to censor their blog when it allows no comments. But then, even the Expelled blog, which is quite good at allowing comments, managed to delete a very short-lived blog entry early on in their existence (other than that it was disjointed and rather pointless, it seemed innocuous enough).
Of course now Disco is just trying to contain the "misinformation" that ID is some kind of creationism. Davetard more or less defended Stein's remarks on UD, but it looks like the lie has gone too long for Disco to give it up that easily. My question is, where have they been? The Expelled crew have been hammering on the "expulsion" of God by "atheistic" science since they got their blog running, even though the "persecuted" have mostly denied that their "science" was religious. Disco didn't catch on until O'Reilly and Stein spelled it out for them on national TV? Gee, I'm getting to think that they might not be brilliant people after all.

Hey wait a minute yourselves, fellahs!
Aren't you the ones saying that the Disco Institute was the money and secret benefactor of EXPELLED??? The "No Intelligence Allowed Conspiracy," wasn't that it?
What gives? And why are your knickers in such a twist?
It looks like this whole "freedom of speech" thisng really has you all flummoxed.
Imagine...Ben Stein with a different opinion than Steven Meyer! Oh my!

"Aren’t you the ones saying that the Disco Institute was the money and secret benefactor of EXPELLED?"
No. Expelled is the personal venture of a specific millionaire.

I can't wait to see the movie. Ben Stein is a genius, perhaps the film will cause more people to realize that the only way creation happened is by the intelligence of God.

Read the more recent threads about the movie. ;)

I find the whole "Darwinism" [sic] to Nazism link to be reprehensible. And I don’t need to see the movie to make this statement.
As a Jewish person who should know better than to ask for this slap in the face, Stein's association of Hitler’s evil to evolution is reckless and ignorant and dangerous.
Ben apparently has not read Martin Luther's abominable and vicious "On the Jews and their Lies" (URL to this doc below). The Germans had 400 years to cook on protestant antisemitism before Hitler ever arrived on the scene. Oh, and the vatican was no slouch either with the inquisition and forced conversion, it took them until 1960 to admit that Jews have a right to exist (search Vatican II "Nostra Aetate").
Why were so many Jews in Poland? Because the Christians (unhappy catholics and protestants alike) sacked their Western European villages and burned them alive in the walled ghettos. Why? Because they thought they were responsible for the plague (accused of poisoning the wells). In reality, Jews had cleaner food habits and they were less susceptible to plague. This is one of the major reasons Jews were driven east, many to Poland. This is historical fact.
Stein and his crew are unencumbered by empirical evidence, scientific method, historical accuracy, and ethics.
And Abraham would roll over in his grave if he knew how the 3 major monotheistic religions were behaving today.
Link to Martin Luther’s "On the Jews and their Lies" follows. Warning! Make sure you have a strong stomach…
