Hemisquilla californiensis -- magnified view of a uropod, or tail feather, of mantis shrimp. Bright colors for intraspecific communication are abundant on these animals, and their visual system is uniquely specialized for advanced color and polarization discrimination.

This is the 5th picture in the animal category, and I have yet to see a crocoduck. Where are the transitional species? Evolution is a lie! LIIIIEEEE!

Stomatopods rock! While I'd have preferred a photo showing a whole mantis shrimp in all its glory, I'll be going with this pic when the voting comes.
