"Documentary" on Ark Park

Posted 8 October 2012 by

Dan Phelps, author of a recent PT article on the Creation "Museum", sent us this link to a "documentary" on "replicating" the Ark. The "documentary" is a three-part series and has supposedly been produced for PBS stations. Mr. Phelps says he could not find any PBS stations that are actually airing the "documentary." Can any reader point to a PBS station that has shown it or plans to show it? ***Update, October 10: Joe Sonka, in an article for the Louisville newspaper LEO Weekly, reports that PBS has no knowledge of any documentary. He quotes Ken Ham, however, as saying that PBS had agreed to three documentaries. Perhaps Mr. Ham is exaggerating. The director of the "documentary," Johan Bos, incidentally, is associated with an oddball outfit that offers classes in film production and guarantees, "This class is a Christian safe environment. This class does not teach secular or worldly views." A Christian-safe environment. I had no idea that Christianity was so fragile.*** The "documentary" is a production of James Hout, who claims "30 years of production" and a forthcoming book that has been "considered" for a TV movie. The director of the movie, Johan Bos, seems to be connected with an institution called the Verity Institute, which offers an accredited bachelor's degree in 21 months and a Bible-centered curriculum. Incidentally, from our "catty" department: Can any reader spot the punctuation error in Mr. Houts' home page? The first person to respond correctly receives two copies a copy of his book; the second person gets one two.* * No, it's a joke!

Hey! The punctuation error is indeed that they put Hout's instead of Houts' - you did the reverse above.

By the way, isn't your prize offer wrong? It should be a copy of the book for the first prize, and two copies for the second prize? (/sarc)

I also saw the misplaced apostrophe but you can donate the book to the nearest landfill or other appropriate institution.

If PBS runs this "documentary" there will be a public outcry. Appropriately enough, Romney is on record as saying that he opposes government funding for PBS, so I guess they can't win.

Built by The Ark Encounter, this project, as their slogan says, is larger than life
Unfortunately, only as intelligent as creationism. Glen Davidson

Sigh. I made the punctuation error deliberately, but Antwerpenaar is correct: I meant 1 copy for first place, 2 copies for second. Always make someone else read your material before you publish it.

I went to the website of Hout, and looked at his list of Projects. One of the ones still in production is the Ark one, the other is described this way:
Human Weed Will society embrace utopia through euphanasia
No, but it might embrace spelling correction.

RE: "Replicating the Ark"

"The Plan": No-one has ever revealed any detailed design plans for the "Ark"; e.g. How "authentic" will the construction be?

"The Build": Since only one-third ($8.3/$24.5 million) of the necessary funds for "Phase I" construction (whatever that is...) have been raised, it seems this segment of the film, so far, is a bit smaller than life.

"The Response": Again, doesn't yet exist (see The Plan & The Build above); but then again, the Ark never existed to begin with ...

Someone should tell Mssrs. Bos, Hout, and Thomas "Hey, the horse goes before the cart!" Unfortunately, this has never stopped YEC's before...

hmmmph, "exaggerating". Mr. Hamm is *lying*.

They show a PBS logo here. Wonder whether PBS knows? Ham also used the PBS logo in his fund-raising pitch.

Will society embrace utopia through euphanasia
No, but it might embrace spelling correction.
I think they're referring to death by euphonium, truly the worst sort of fate for orchestral aficionados. Mike
